What to Wear?
Keep it simple.
Proper clothing allows the face to dominate the portrait, with all other elements being secondary.
The basic background for the fundraiser
is a brown c
anvas or muslin.
- Medium to dark tones of green, brown, rust wine or blue
- Black is a good choice for Black&White portraits or for a dramatic look in color.
- Bare shoulders or tops with “spaghetti straps” can often make you look heavier. Heaven forbid! Everyone (except babies) should wear long sleeves to keep the eye from being drawn to the skin.
- Avoid stripes, checks, plaids and bold prints which also draw the eye away from the face.
- Realize that it is hard to look relaxed while hugging your children when you are “tied up” in a business suit.
